Mt. everest trekking itinerary

Mt. EVEREST EXPERIENCE – 11 Days

Day 01 – ARRIVAL KATHMANDU

Arrival at Kathmandu airport / Special welcome /Transfer to the hotel (3 star). If time permits Sightseeing of Kathmandu city. Overnight at hotel. 

Day 02 – SIGHTSEEING

Full day sightseeing of the following Kathmandu city (if not on day 1), Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath and Patan city. Overnight at hotel. 

Day 03 – KATHMANDU TO LUKLA TO PHAKDING (2800M.)

After breakfast transfer to the airport, fly to Lukla (2900M. treks starting point). The flight into Lukla is a lifetime experience, in itself. The airfield is on a slop and difference between the two ends of the runway is about 60 meters. Meet with trekking crew. After final preparation, trek for a few hours along Dudh Koshi River to the village of Phakding. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 04 PHAKDING TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3440M.)

The trail continuous north up the Dudh Koshi Valley to Jorsale, where the trail officially enters the Sagarmatha National Park. There is an entrance station beyond the village. Continue along the trail,  crossing the Bhote Koshi River to begin the steep climb up to Namche Bazaar, the administrative center of the Sagarmatha National Park and the hub of Sherpa society. Remember to look out for glimpses of Mt. Everest from the trail on the way to Everest. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 05 NAMCHE TO THYANGBOCHE (3870M.)

From Namche, it is a steep one and half hours climb to Syangboche then descend to Punki Thanka via Khunjung, a big Sherpa settlement. Then the trail ascends the right flank of the Dudh Koshi Valley to Thyangboche in height of 3870 meters, home to the famous Thyangboche Monastery, spiritual center of the Khumbu. The climb is long but, more than adequately compensated by views of Mt. Amadablam and on the clear days of views of Mt. Everest and it’s surrounding peaks. Amadablam (Mother’s Charm Box) is named after the little box that Sherpa women wear around their necks. It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in the Himalaya. Overnight at the lodge.

 

 

 

Day 06 THYANGBOCHE TO KHUMJUNG

End through forest to Phungitema. From here, the trail climbs steeply up and asses through mani walls and chortens to Khumjung, the largest village in Khumbu. Its neighboring village of Khunde is half hours walk from here and has a good hospital built by the Himalayan Trust.

Overnight at the lodge. 

Day 07 KHUMJUNG TO PHAKDINGMA

A steep descent of about forty minutes takes you to Namche. Continue descend along the gorge of the Dudh Koshi to Phakdingma. Overnight at the lodge. 

Day 08 PHAKDINGMA TO LUKLA

Ascend following the same way back to Lukla. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 09 LUKLA TO KATHMANDU

Flight back to Kathmandu. Arrival at Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel

Overnight at hotel 

Day 10 – Free day in Kathmandu.

Evening farewell dinner / Overnight at hotel. 

Day 11– Transfer to the airport / Fly out.

 

Mt. EVEREST BASE CAMP – 17 Days

Day 01 – KATHMANDU

Arrival at Kathmandu / Transfer to the hotel. Breifing about the program. Overnight at hotel 3 star or similar.

Day 02 – KATHMANDU

Full day sightseeing of Kathmandu city, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath and Pashupatinath.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 KATHMANDU TO LUKLA TO PHAKDING (2800M.)

Day 06 THYANGBOCHE TO DINGBOCHE (4360M.)

The trail drops down to Devuche, crossing the Imja Khola and climb up to DINGBOCHE via Pheriche.

Overnight at lodge.

Day 07 DINGBOCHE TO LUBUJE (4930M.)

The trail climbs up to Lobuje (4620M.) through Phalang Karpa and Duglha. The view from Lobuje is superb. Overnight at lodge

Day 08 LOBUCHE TO GORAK SHEP / KALA PATTHAR (5545M.)

The trail climb up to Gorak Shep (5160M.), continues climb up to Kala Patthar  (black rock). You can see the best view from this small peak and Mt. EVEREST as well. Overnight at lodge in Gorak Shep

Day 09 GORAK SHEP TO EVEREST BASE CAMP

Trek to Everest Base Camp – This is optional. The view from the Base camp is not worty rather than from the view of Kalapatthar. Back to Gorek Shep. Overnight at lodge.

Day 10 – GORAK SHEP TO LOBUJE

The trail climb down from here Gorak  Shep to Lobuje Overnight at lodge

Day 11 LOBUCHE TO PANGBOCHE

The trail climbs down to Dingboche Overnight at lodge

Day 12 PANGBOCHE TO NAMCHE BAZAAR VIA KHUMJUNG

Overnight at lodge

Day 13 NAMCHE BAZAAR TO MANJO

Overnight at lodge

Day 14 MANJU TO LUKLA

Overnight at lodge

Day 15 LUKLA TO KATHMANDU

From Lukla fly back to Kathmandu / Day at leisure

Day 16 – Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 17 – free till departure / Transfer to the airport / Fly out.
